If you have some sort of compliance requirements, you need to update because of the onslaught of CVE vulnerabilities in the older versions. They are mostly bogus like "regexp DOS" but you have to satisfy the process and update anyway.
It is not nonsense, DPRK poorness is majorly self-inflicted:
- they were actually economically ahead of South Korea after war, despite embargoes (granted they had USSR back then)
- they border with China, absolutely massive economy where you can sell/buy anything. China started embargoing them since 2017, long after the author was stationed there
Cuba is in much worse place embargo-wise because they don't border with anyone who can trade with, they are also horribly mismanaged as communist countries are but albeit being poor they are not starving level poor like DPRK
Psychopath? Perhaps a stretch. Soulless? Absolutely. Probably not just VP but whole department if no one raised the voice and said guys, maybe people won't vibe with this.
And the working conditions in Amazon warehouses are horrible. Workers in 50s or 70s had definitely better conditions and purchasing power. Despite all efficiency improvements, purchasing power of US workers is stagnating since 70s

The conditions improved because of Marx's teaching, without worker actions nothing would improve, it didn't happen out of capital owners' voluntary decision. It happened because of strikes and many were violently supressed. Just a few in USA: https://www.history.com/news/strikes-labor-movement

Normal people are often hardworking (much more than capital owners) and sometimes smart as well. However to get rich, you must be lucky (usually you get born into wealth). Sometimes you need to be lucky just to get out of poverty.
I think majority doesn't care that their doctor is kinda rich and can go heli-skiing. They are angry that someone is so rich they can't even spend the money while his workers are struggling.
