Of course you _can_ build great and secure systems without any frameworks. But do you _want_ to do that? If I had to build everything from scratch for which I'm using a framework or library right now then I would need _significantly_ longer which would place me and my team at a clear disadvantage against the competition.

There are tradeoffs for sure but you can't have everything all at once.

> if you have enough knowledge of a particular language, you can be very fast and secure in your applications.

So everyone using any kind of framework is a moron or simply doesn't know what he is doing? Really?!

> I tell you with certainty that yes, I can

So, you seem to have made up your mind. Then why do you ask the question here on HN? What do you hope to gain from that? Are you looking for comments to tell you how awesome you are? Must be quite the bummer not to get them.

I really don't know where to start but the answer is most likely: No, you can't.

I really don't get that reasoning.

If a company accepts that remote work is better and in the end gets more done, then why care about the lease at all?

Simply pay the rent for the remainder of the lease and file it under "bad decision". Really, what's the alternative? Force people to come back to the office just to justify the rent? If it's not in the best interest of the company? (remember we determined earlier one that the productivity is higher with people working remotely).

> Just going by what's available.

That's not how it works. If a brain surgeon can't find a position in a hospital do you think someone will hire him as a clerk because "that's available"?

But why? I know some people feel nostalgic about this but the old version IMHO isn't really better.

Interestingly, the link leads to OLD.reddit.com

Is this some HN global setting or are people really linking to OLD.reddit.com?

Dude, you really should see a doctor.

As any other tech-savy person I don't have a text file with password. There are way better solutions out there.

Never heard it until now - except for ngrok which I now understand isn't simply a made up word ;-)

> With a static typed programming language, there's always a cost of compilation time and expected problems with linking libraries.

I have developed tons of applications in both Java and Ruby.

There was never a time when I thought "damn, all those hours I'm wasting due to compilation". Never. With a good IDE compilation happens completely transparent in the background during the development process.

If you really have substantial overhead from compilation another language will not solve your underlying issues.

Yes, I do. But if I told you about it it would defy the purpose, wouldn't it?

This sounds way too much like a marketing text that a real evaluation.

"However, Java has several features that make it an ideal language for large-scale enterprise applications, such as its ability to run on a virtual machine"

The ability to run on a virtual machine isn't something that is unique (or even special) to Java. Python can be run on a virtual machine as well, heck even assembler can be run on a virtual machine.

Sounds to me like the author simple doesn't understand the concept of the JVM.

In the end the goal is clear:

"Conclusion [...] If you’re looking to develop a mobile app or website, consider Arturo Digital"

There is hardly any cheaper way to do advertising.

Do you really expect us not to notice this is a marketing post by SSOJet?

Not really an answer to the original question, is it?

"Most things are more expensive than in the US"

I tend to disagree. Compared to my local supermarket in Germany the prices of groceries and other food items were definitely higher when I visited the US.

And let's not forget "free" and universal health care in Europe.

HN is not your marketing channel. Bring substance or don't bring anything at all.

Is there still demand for Swing development? I would have assumed JavaFX is the way to go.

A lot of tech companies still hire.
