At first we did load a shell extension but we stopped due to performance issues. now its just a user-registry entry that starts the executable with the dir/file as parameter.
I don't - I created this because I needed a reliable error scan for websites that depend on good google rankings and those sites usually don't require authentication.

Python 2 is still widely used, that's why saying it supports "Python" seems legit to me.
Although I have to admit I'm annoyed by this versioning problem myself. I find myself wasting a lot of time sorting out versioning issues of packages/frameworks I'd like to use.
The project itself looks ok to me - I don't really mind the logo, though.
Concering growth/spreading of the project: BangWithFriends had huge media coverage because it was something new and also a little controversial. I'm afraid PairBuddy is missing this aspect.
