Yeah I always open my visor when I'm stopped/riding slowly for longer than I can comfortably hold my breath. Depending on the temperature outside, if I don't open my visor it will fog up real fast.
One day I wondered where dinosaurs fit into christianity. I know next to nothing about christianity but I think it includes the belief that humans were on Earth pretty soon after Earth's creation, which meant either christianity rejected the dinosaur's existence or they lived alongside humans, which would be a pretty neat scenario to imagine.
If I recall correctly the common explanations I found were that humans did in fact live alongside dinosaurs, and that dinosaurs lived and died within the first few days of their creation for whatever reason.
One article I read on a christian website also said that the dating of dinosaur fossils by scientists was incorrect because bones don't have timestamp labels on them so there's no way one could know.
In regards to "I wonder how people reconcile such discoveries backed by scientific validation" I think it's quite often simply unsubstantiated rejection.
Eh I once heard someone make a distinction that I like between 'what you enjoy' and 'what makes you happy'.
A somewhat boring example is it's unlikely you enjoy doing your university exams, however your state of happiness after completing your degree will be higher than if you had instead done something more enjoyable with your time (e.g. play video games).
Just a personal experience: I had bought several ~$20AU iPhone 4S batteries from eBay from different sellers, and while they started off okay their capacity dramatically decreased after a few weeks.
Also I'm unsure on how a device determines battery charge, but I forever had issues with the phone turning off while reporting the battery had ~30% left.
Maybe I didn't treat the batteries correctly, but I can't recall as this was several years ago.
While there are very strong benefits to commuting on a bicycle, a motorcycle will likely be the faster method of commute transport.
Although this is probably dependent on your local laws and how much you abide by those laws, as I know lane filtering and such is illegal in a lot of the US.
I had a similar behaviour years ago. I deleted the app from my phone, but then after a short while logged in via my phone's browser. A short while after that I chose to 'delete' my account (after backing up the archive of course).
Since it gives you 30 days to reconsider your decision, I thought if I really missed facebook that much I'd log in within the 30 days. It's been years since and I haven't had the slightest desire to be apart of facebook.
In recent times my attention has been drawn to the amount of time wasted on random Youtube videos. Youtube is more difficult since the service actually has value to me. Somehow restricting my access to only videos from my subscriptions could be a possible solution.
Okay but what does one actually do to make the community more 'diverse and welcoming'? What is preventing a particular person from contributing to the project?
Are contributions currently being rejected based on personal traits?
I think the answer to this question would help me a lot in understanding any of this.
>We would be foolish to think that all calories are equal.
Given that the calorie is just a unit of energy, I believe they are considered equal. What you imply is analogous to measuring a length of 5 metres and then questioning if each of the metre segments are 'equal'. They must be equal, or else the segments could no longer be considered metres.
It may be more correct to say that the body does not utilise all molecules that it can derive energy from in the same way.
In regards to speakers, I found over time I rarely use speakers and are thus happy with a rather basic set (maybe not quite as basic as OP). Headphones is where I prefer to put the majority of my audio budget.
I formed the opinion that Facebook (the service) was in trouble back in 2014-2015 when I noticed the site appeared to becoming more about interaction with content posted by 'meme pages' and such rather than content produced by friends.
Facebook as a company will probably be fine as it has its tentacles in all sorts of places now.
I share your experience. At the time I did a simple cost-benefit analysis.
It was costing me >0 resources (i.e. my time) and was having a net negative effect on me. I was just so irritated by the mind numbingly dumb things that I'd consume while browsing the news feed. Which unfortunately over time became close to 100% of the content on my feed.
I'm interested in installing a different firmware on my home router, but there are many offerings. Is there any reason you recommend LEDE over the others? (e.g. Tomato)
