How about anything regarding "black-on-black" crime? YOu hear about "serial killer" in Tampa after 3 shootings, but nothing about Chicago or Baltimore or Cleveland, etc... WHERE IS BLM THERE? Granted, some cops are assholes. there is no doubt about that. some shouldn't be cops. But as a black man, you're 11 times more likely to be killed by another black man than you are by a cop [1]. Inconvenient facts
Or that police officers are almost 20 TIMES more likely to be killed by a black man [2]. Now - Think about the population ratios and what that entails.
How about the ENTIRE "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" movement was based on a known LIE. That didn't stop BLM, though, did it?
How about being "unarmed" does not mean "docile" or "not dangerous"?
How about statistics that that BLM and the regressive left don't like to hear? like how the Welfare system is a GENERATIONAL crutch that drags society and their individual communities down [3-7], but what do people vote for? MORE WELFARE, and anyone who votes against less welfare (or anything that doesn't "redistribute" or otherwise steal money) is obviously racist. Its things like THIS that gave you Trump. Identity politics is what gave you Trump. Yet very few in this country want to take responsibility for their actions or their current situation. It's always someone else's fault, and someone else's job to fix it. Stop wallowing in the past. Today and every tomorrow is a blank sheet. It isn't "my" fault that some people can't see or don't take advantage of their opportunities. But what do I know? You've probably already labeled me a "racist", not knowing my race, not knowing my background or circumstances.
so we end the war on drugs and outlaw private prisons. Do you really believe this will satisfy BLM? Do you really believe this will solve the problems in the inner cities? Chicago? Baltimore? St. Louis? There are a LOT of fingers pointing for political reasons, yet some topics and ideas are deemed "off-limits".
people that willingly choose those positions. I didn't go to college. I go a job out of high school. I did what I had to do, to be able to do what I want to do. People today think a degree entitles them to $100k/yr and a new Porsche. That's not this works. That's not how any of this works...
you're not reading it because you're looking to justify your own position and don't want to see it.
when someone CHOOSES to give money towards a cause, it IS speech. (granted, most don't agree the citizens united ruling, but mainly because it allows a corporation to have "more" speech than you or I). This is not a problem with the law, this is a problem with money in politics. Solve that problem (like only money from companies/people from within the district is allowed or something), and you solve the 'citizens united' problem.
Just because life isn't fair doesn't mean I GIVE You my money. I should have every right to keep it without being robbed at gunpoint (IRS) - by lazy socialists who don't understand how business works, have never run a business or "democratic-mob-rules-socialists-who-abuse-government-to-do-their-dirty-work".
that would depend on your country's individual currency movement regulations as well as the different policies of the various exchanges.
for instance, coinbase only allows for a certain set amount of money in/out per week - and its actually quite low comparatively. $15-25k i think? maybe someone has seen more?
true - however what has been happening in the last 20 years with paper fiat is not how fiat is "supposed" to work - though granted, it seems that EVERY paper fiat eventually leads to increased inflation/hyper-inflation. With Bitcoin, that is impossible. This allows the whole bitcoins, as well as the individual sitoshis to increase in value - much like the dollar of 1900 (it has since lost 99% of its purchasing power due to all the increased printing, loss of the gold standard, etc...
while I don't think it will ever fully replace fiat currencies, it will - and already is - acting as a secondary money/value exchange, so there is NO downside to getting in. None.
>democratically elect representatives who will distribute it for them...
good thing we live in a "republic". This line smacks of wanton theft. The poor should have a reason to be "given" money other than just being "poor" (as the standard reasoning with 'wealth distributors'), similarly, the rich should have a good reason to have their money stolen other than just being "rich".
Bezos BUILT something, Oprah BUILT something. Just because they're rich and you're not doesn't mean you deserve to be. This country (USA) - at least in theory - is about equal OPPORTUNITY - NOT "Equal Outcome".
Life Isn't FAIR. Stop trying to make everyone equal when they clearly aren't. Some people put in more work, have better ideas, better skills, attention to details, and follow through, while others do not.
You may never steal directly from your neighbor or friend, but voting for the government to do it is the same thing.
when all you have is a spear, going after "slow", grazing animals is "easy", but the Charismatic megafauna that survives today is in general, the ones you don't mess with (again, when all you have is a spear). Also, moose, bovine, etc... don't have hunting instincts like the big cats, or weigh 2,000lbs like hippos and rhinos... there isn't as much cover on the African plains as there is in the US to go after the larger, horned animals.
Remember, we're ALL learning all the time, always progressing in knowledge and ability. Or at least we SHOULD be.
So lets take something simple. tying your shoelaces. when a 5 year old does it while singing the bunny song, they feel they have it down pat. SO when a 3 year old sees it, the 5 year old MUST be a master, right? the 5 year old thinks they're awesome at tying their shoes when the bunny goes around the tree and through the hole, etc.... so it must be true, until they see the NBA ballers do it without missing a step or 3 seconds off the clock.
The point is that being a "master" actually depends on the viewpoint of the person(s) they're interacting with. In this case, you or the person you feel they are subtly bringing down. IMO, the best way to handle these situations is to humbly remind everyone that we're all still learning. There is always someone better out there, there is always a better or more efficient way to do things. Correcting someone while teaching them (and without insults) is optimal (especially if you're not the expert you thought you were, either). Doing it this way brings both the braggadocios and the meek to the same plane and does it without bruising egos. It works even better when these two personalities are on the same team - But this is just my experience.
...and strangely enough they have less than 1/10th the population as the US. There are more people in the greater-Los Angeles area than there are in the entire continent of Australia
tell that to a Trump supporter in Berkeley. While Facebook (IMO) does not force people to waste their time, but much like booze, it doesn't discourage it either. The result of overuse of either is much the same - a wasted life.
Edit: Personally, i find it a bit ridiculous the fact that people always find ways to blame other people for their own problems - in this case, someone is THINKING too much, and that somehow is someone else's fault?
If you want help, ASK FOR HELP. Otherwise, we're being chauvinistic if we even offer. This is what society has devolved to.
Does "Emotional Labor" exist? sure. But people need to manage their own mental stress levels. friends and family should help when they can, but they shouldn't be blamed necessarily be blamed for it.
I don't want you to clean the dishes. I want you to WANT to clean the dishes.
i'm not sure if regulation is needed at this point. I'm not a fan of government interference. Unionization is one option. somehow enforcing certification is another to level the playing field (aside from certifications already being a racket).
CS degrees are virtually worthless by the time you graduate... experience matters, but less and less with each passing technological rotation. Experience matters more so in management or general leadership. Maybe look to start moving in that direction?
