I agree. It’s not a comment on the existence of a people group but rather a political structure. Saying something is older than the USA does not imply nobody lived in North America more than 250 years ago.

I hope the redeployed Fable 5 is the same as the version they pulled without any substantially increased restrictions.

A wicket is a physical wooden structure. To take a wicket means to physically hit the wicket with a ball causing the batter to be out.

A wicket has the same function as a catcher in baseball.

I am not rewriting history, just giving a perspective.

The Norse raiders were given land and in exchange they would stop raiding. Paying off the aggressors.

These Norse became known as the Normans, took the English crown only a few generations after settling and then claimed the French crown.

Taking England gave them enough power to war with France for hundreds of years.

Paying off raiders, time and time again, cost France and never ended the threat. William The Conqueror’s descendants didn’t stop claiming France until around 1800.

But I totally do give you that by the 100 year war they were now English not Norse.

But in the modern West we have a very short 24 hour attention span. In other cultures and other time periods people had long memories. I could imagine Rollo telling his son to finish what his ancestors started. And eventually William telling his sons.

That’s my perspective.

We know about instances when it was tried, and usually failed, but we also know about the rest of history when as far as we know it wasn’t tried or even contemplated for the exact reasons the OP stated.

> The pre-french kings paid off The tribes who eventually became the Normans.

Probably the worst decision any French leader, possibly any European leader, ever made. It could be argued that this lead to at least 600 years of pain until the Normans aristocracy (now English) gave up trying to take France.

"billed dinosaurs, horned dinosaurs and armoured dinosaurs did not have feathers because we have lots of skin impressions of these animals that clearly show they had scaly coverings" [1]

There is no evidence for example that protoceratops, whose skulls are pictured in the article, had feathers.

Non-avian theropods had feathers, but even then were not necessarily covered with them, it could be a few feathers under the arms. We are talking about species over a 200 million year time period.

Because most of the time this will be used is not part of a software development project but rather producing publication plots in a script or plots in a notebook. Not what you would want to do when incorporating it into a web app.

When I was working with YOLO models it did seem like there was little practical improvements were between all of the spinoff models. It seemed people were pushing new models for personal recognition since the original creator stopped working on it.

That said, many of the claimed improvements in this model were are efficiency related.

> I swear my tinnitus is a result of use of AirPods.

Have you had your hearing checked out by an audiologist? Any hearing loss?

Hearing loss (age) and damage (loud noise) are the most likely culprits.

The average number of sick days used is 15 or the number of days offered?

In New Zealand we get a minimum of 10 sick working days per year but some companies offer more and allow unused sick leave to accumulate.

My advice is don’t ever buy anything that might need support from New Zealand between 24 Dec and 5 Jan. The entire country is just about closed (other than non-niche consumer stores).

Many companies force staff to take vacation days during this time, and there are four (yes four!) public holidays during this period.

> I can’t say for 100% certain but I struggle to believe what you’re describing is more common than not.

This is absolutely common in New Zealand.

I think treating people with dignity, respect and part of the community is as important as state financial support.

Our government will also subsidise wages in certain industries for people with certain disabilities. So it’s common for people with intellectual disabilities to be working at supermarkets.
