The quality of the maps is getting better, much more useful and detailed than Google Maps. I find it much easier to locate myself on Organic Maps than Google Maps. For example parks are only a green blob on Google Maps, while benches, walking paths, drinking water points, toilets and other landmarks and buildings are visible on Organic Maps. I find that adding transit lines or cycling routes as an overlay is also a great feature. Even the search feature is getting broken on Google Maps, when making a search, it would show up advertised results (in red squares instead of red circles) and when browsing the map there are more advertised useless places surrounded by an almost empty map. The only advantage of Google Map is to find the best way from point A to point B and places reviews.

On my Pixel phone I always leave enable the "Top Shot" setting, it saves a short low resolution video clip in the XMP/RDF metadata of the JPEG file. It saves motions that are not visible on a still image adding valuable information. iPhones and Samsungs have similar settings.

This is a weird application for such sensors. The train may be used as a test platform. DARPA launched a program to develop quantum sensors that are reliable outside the lab recently [1].

How does it differ from cameras used in capsule endoscopy [1]? The technology has been available for 25 years and is widely used (4 millions units sold in 2024).

You should feel the opposite, see it as a new tool in your pocket.

Industrialisation and computers/automation took away massive amount of jobs while globally improving people lives, this may possibly (maybe not) do the same.

If in the future, anybody can write the book, create a photograph or a motion picture or an music album with just few words describing what they have in mind, this will be a tremendous productivity improvement and will unleash an overflow of human creativity.

I like to compare it to what Jobs said about computer, they are the "bicycle of the mind" [1].

What about adding this feature to your creative workflow, for fast prototyping.

I've played with DALL-E, I'm not able to paint but I was able to generate good looking paintings and it felt amazing, like getting new power, I felt like Neo when he learn martial art in The Matrix. And I realized that AI may be the new bicycle of the mind, like the personal computers and internet changed our way to work, think and live, AI may now allow us to get new capabilities, extending our limits.

I'm not sure, is there not one standard, most accepted recipe and then N variations? Also, I would not except edits to be on ingredients, but mostly on the method. If a user would want to modify ingredients, he could create a his "regional" variation.

But I see the wiki more as a reference book on recipes and their well known variations (which is mostly what I'm looking for when searching for a recipe) than a sharing platform/pseudo social network.

It is interesting that there is not yet a Wikipedia of recipes. It would be the perfect use case for a wiki. People would love to share their recipes variations and improve/fix existing one.

There would be a standard layout, introduction paragraph would explain the history of a recipe and link to other similar recipes. That would be interesting to read.

And there would be an endless number of recipes. For-profit sites are full of ads and SEO optimized to improve user retention/engagement, which make them annoying to use. A wiki could be print friendly and distraction-free, which would be perfect for a recipe.

It's very new, I don't know if the standard is finalized yet and I don't think there is many chip for it and if there are, the price is probably prohibitive.
