yep, such a coward, I don't know how he's going to lead people after this.
no matter what, a chief should have his officers back.

Shouldn’t we expect police officers and their leaders to value justice and the truth over having officers’ backs? The widespread use of extra judicial punishments with impunity by police in the United States is a serious problem and as far as I can tell is the main reason for the massive protests against police forces last summer.
It shouldn't be us vs them. He should be having the backs of justice and innocent people. And everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
those are people that he trained, they were following his policies, risking their lives arresting violent criminals, they were doing their job.
Given all the evidence so far this was a highly difficult, dynamic situation with many moving parts, with cause of death is unclear and far from being determined.
To go on a witness stand and bash his subordinate to please prosecution and the mobs outside, to deflect the blame from himself, is pure cowardice, lowest of the low.

My post was directed to your statement that no matter what the police chief should have his officers’ backs. You did not write anything to address the question I asked nor did you address the point raised about the widespread use of extra judicial punishments in the United States.
The Police Chief can't be that far out of touch with the allowed forms of restraint used by the people he oversees. It appears to me that he is taking a cowardly path of disassociating himself from the process to appeases the masses.
