Sounds like they are violating the United States Constitution through Congresses' illegal bulk data collection program and should be arrested and prosecuted for sedition.

My take is that they really are the nicest spy agency in the world (they won’t assassinate you!) and they have a lot of internal controls, but they are still a spy agency.

I've seen "Web3" advocates who think they need to fix the "terrible UI" for it to catch on. In my recent Fediverse adventures I've come to see that decentralized authentication looks like a good foundation for distributed services but that key management is a bitch. The slogan most people will endorse is "give me convenience or give me death" so they will fall back to some system where "they" can reset your password. You might trust Facebook to only reset your password if the police have a warrant, and the same for mastodon.social, but the administrators of little Mastodon servers have proven you can't trust 100% of them 100% of the time.
