It is a good piece, but they should have title it "Our Changing Colons, An Intenstinal Journey", which reflects its useful content.
Let me save you a click... it's a long and meandering article that finally gets to the point quite a ways in. That point? Not that early humans were vegetarian, we already know that we've been omnivores for millions of years, no... it's about non-human primates.
It's also written in a "vernacular" style that feels like an educational PSA from the 1990's.

Depends how far back you go. Human ancestors were nearly all fish, for example.
If you go far enough back we all came from a super nova or the Big Bang .
What has food habits to do with evolution?
How do you reckon the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores came about?
Homos sapiens in span of few thousand years evolved from herbivores and became omnivores? Do you have a citation for this ? I did not think it would be possible in a short timeframe to make that kind of jump.
Changing Diets changing the gut is hardly in the same order of magnitude of time frame as evolving from herbivores to omnivores.

Hmmm. From:

to:
> Changing Diets changing the gut is hardly in the same order of magnitude of time frame as evolving from herbivores to omnivores.
As your first question has nothing to do with time frames, that's what my response was to.
Not sure why you're trying to then use my response with... whatever this reply of your is supposed to be. :/
