View it as an opportunity for your promising team members to step and develop. It will give them space to flourish. Sell it that way as a win-win. When you come back, you will hopefully have a stronger team and can build on it as you grow.

If you are short-staff try to hire ASAP.

I disagree. Whilst some employers would be dead against it, others may look positively on people taking sabbaticals/gap years. As long as you have a good CV/resume and if you are older, consistent work history and are taking the time off in a manner which is within your means, I would say go for it.

I feel like your view is more of a reflection of you and your perspective (i.e. efficiency is #1 priority) rather than the world we live in. I feel like even in the military, relationships would be hugely important. If I was a soldier but hated my commanding officier...my performance would be very different to a situations where I had a great leader.

Great relationships and trust results in higher efficiency.

So everyone at the top is a robot? The reality is that we are human and it is important to communicate effectively...part of this is building relationship with others. I've met billionaires and 100's of millions in financial services and they are all great with people. This isn't because they are great guys....some are narcissists...its because it works!

I've only just started this commute so I'm thinking about it.... if I figure out that I can't get away with it then I'm stuck with a useless piece of kit.

I agree that it’s sad that e-scooters are banned in the UK. I take the train to work and I have ~20mins of waking either end (1 hr 20 mins per day total). An electric scooter could save me ~40 mins per day....

Why are electric scooters banned when e-bikes are fine? What if they were capped at 20mph? Below the 25 for bikes

I spent maybe 1.5-2 years working on a medium size React app and after taking maybe 6 months off, I came back to it. I started reading about React Hooks and honestly I did not fully understand them. Maybe it's just JS fatigue and me feeling like I'm trying to building a house on quick sand. Everything is always changing...

Recently I built a bolierplate JSON-api web app project in vuejs and golang (previously I was using TypeScript, Apollo GraphQL and Express). I find the terminology around vuejs much more user friendly and it comes with a router and state management built in...I try to avoid using any other JS module. The golang ecosystem is much more stable than nodejs which is a relief....I have a feeling I might just settle on vuejs + golang for all future web apps
