I’m in a similar situation. I’m just saying that I know a lot of people who work much harder than me, without anywhere near the same financial freedom. I think it’s good to meditate on that fact regularly.

I’m making no comment about how things _should_ broadly be. Only that we should consciously appreciate how rare it is for quitting to be a practical, and non-ruinous, option.

What an utterly privileged life we lead when we can just decide to quit our jobs because things are getting too “absurd”.

I, like most people, always just click whatever option is larger and easier to click (or closest to my cursor at the time). It never seems to matter to my experience which I pick. Sometimes it’s the “all” option, sometimes it’s the “none” option, etc.

I feel bad about doing this, because surely someone somewhere is doing analytics on click data and saying: “See! There is a lot of variation in responses to this cookie choice, people are really taking them seriously, we should keep them!”

It’s true. AI slop is not what will kill the fun Internet. It’s just the mechanisation of the forces that already killed it.

Is there anything out there that is the opposite of this? Like a directory of old things that are, against all odds, still alive

There is no realistic scenario where, no matter your extractions or bean selections, 6-10 shots of espresso a day is not an enormous amount of caffeine

Right there with you. Everyone else on HN is a genius so will love it, but for me this is just incoherent words.

Why not both! Delicious caffeinated in the morning, less-delicious-but-still-quite-nice decaf after 12:00. You don’t need to go entirely caffeine-free to enjoy most of the benefits.

The Purrrr app (which shows feeders like this) is really quite an experience. It’s just as hyperactive as a Temu or AliExpress, with as much dopamine hacking as a TikTok, but… for good? I think?
