I honestly don't understand what's dodgy about Palantir. They build a platform to analyze big data and they have clients like government agencies, immigration control and law enforcement. What's the big deal here? Please educate me

the UK got itself to a pretty peculiar setup now. The market for devs isn't so high paid or that huge to need much more people that don't already have the right to work there. It's not as attractive as the US

you might check this for inspiration (https://seguranca-informatica.pt/shopping-trap-the-online-st...).

I used to have a huge IOC collection, but now stopped tracking them.

things like HTML markup, pricing patterns, IPs might inform on specific clusters of fraudsters.

I don't think Shopify cares tbh

cool project. You might have notice, but there's a non-trivial amount of fraud on shopify (fake shops, info stealers, etc). Might be interesting to look at that dataset and explore a bit =) it's quite fascinating

cheap copycat. As for Bluesky created too much hype and exclusivity that people gave up. got a notification last week inviting me to join and lol'd. kinda like magicleap with vr.

well, hold on guys. let's not go too orthodox with all the education and moving abroad thing. People move abroad to the "west" for a variety of legit reasons which give them perspective. Many companies are in the UK and London still is, and probably always will be a powerhouse. Same for US, Germany, etc. I don't know that one can cross out the benefit of having studied abroad along so many talented people that easily. Can you get that at home? Depends on a lot of things, specially where is home for you.

> It does tend to leave the question open of why there's such a large American constituency for "why aren't we more like Europe?".

because even if the US is very rich and ahead, their public infrastructure feels very run down compared to Germany, Austria, and others in Europe.

the skilled working class is already being squeezed down to the last penny. engineers are paid absurdly low salaries given the cost of living in London, and that's where they're best paid

well, the catch is "we make about as much here as we did in the US". Usually, you'd make 40% less of what you did in the US when you move to the UK.

the key part is really trust. there's no substitute for in-office work on that matter. 100% agree with your take on this.
