Didn’t even work well then, which is why the 12th Amendment passed quickly

In many states (California being one) you don’t vote for a vice president on the primary ballot. I did notice that in Illinois, you do.

I find this very creepy, not necessarily for any _rational_ reasons. It just seems like a bizarre way to use human tissue.

From the title, I honestly thought you were asking, “As a regular, sensible person, how do I put up with all these AI doomsayers?”

As a parent, this kind of sorry breaks my heart.

Never ascribe to malevolence what can adequately be explained by incompetence.

And “Emmanuel Goldstein” was the name of a character in the novel 1984. He was the widely despised “enemy of the state” cooked up by the government to justify their autocracy.

Amused to see the 10mm socket in an "in case of emergency break glass" box. So true about 10mm, though I'd lean towards the 10mm box wrench. I've disassembled many a motorcycle with not much more than that.

So disappointed that there wasn't at least a chapter on irrationality. That's the fun part! :-D

Agree 100%. First of all, this is much more of an “anecdote” or “dinner theater” than an “experiment.“

But even more so, when you take a bunch of people and _tell them to play these roles_, why are surprised when they _play the stereotype of those roles?_

I live in the Bay Area, which is both big city, and heavily tech/maker, and I have never even heard of a Micro Center, much less seen one.

I miss RadioShack, and especially Frys when they were in their prime.

Many employees stock options plans vest the options on change of control. All the ones I’ve had did.

> then got caught and settled for an "undisclosed" sum (rumoured to be quite large)

The sum wasn't insubstantial, but it was much less than the pay that would have been received in a free market.

> . If enough people get another job, the industry they are leaving will adapt or die.

The only way that happens is with a union. The union is what lets the workers organize for the kind of collective action that forces an industry to adapt.
batguano

As someone who received that settlement, it didn’t.

And a no union clause would be just as illegal as their conduct in the first place.

IANAL, but my understanding is that in the United States, a civil defendant who prevails is not usually entitled to have their legal fees paid by the plaintiff.
