Can you let powers be know that Google Cloud Storage is expensive compared to Cloudfront & S3 :)
Cloud Storage considers retrieving an object through its HTTP url is considered a class B XML request type which is priced at $0.01/10,000 ops. This is 1.3x-2.5x more expensive than cloudfront and s3 respectively. I think this is the only google cloud service which is more expensive than the AWS equivalent
One advantage of React Native is that facebook uses it and hence they will keep developing it. Unless Google apps start using Flutter, it may not gain traction/resources.
I use the app on Android and it's the best HN app on Android but at times it is obvious that it is not native and it has some issues as you said. What I have encountered are
1. I get an error message "Unable to load xxxx" at times (forgot the exact message) and the app closes.
2. If I switch between article/comments it always reloads
3. At times clicking on the comments icon doesn't work when you are in article mode.
4. I can't long press on links in comments to share it to browser/pocket etc
Compared to reddit apps like Relay, the HN app does feel much more basic.
I have used your app on HTC One. Liked it but unlocking the phone to use a remote app was more cumbersome than just grabbing the remote.
I like the approach Peel is taking. Show what's currently on TV and click on what you want to watch and it automatically switches the channel to that show. That's a real good use of the smartphone app, since flicking through channels on TV is really inefficient
