Lol. Google's absolute insistence that you must want local language results has been a pain in the ass for years.

It's impossible for them to understand. Clearly they have zero people working and living in countries other than their own. /s

Oh dear God, no. Don't need Google to have even more control. Imagine blocking something and it shows up anyway because Google decided so.

Oh wait, you don't have to imagine, just use Gmail on Android. "Spam? That's not spam" - Google.

Or just Android with it's fucking "notifications" from all the garbage news sites. Tbf, my fault for using Google apps.

Honestly, blocking shit you don't want to see locally is the best solution. Decentralized, under your control, no need to trust BigCorp number 294.

On a related note, this always trickles down to low level managers who then proceed to tell it to the floor workers.

Trying to motivate a cleaner, assembly operative, driver, cashier, warehouse operative, packer and other low level workers with it is like telling them to go fuck themselves.

It sounds like bullshit. It is bullshit. No one fucking loves these jobs. There's nothing to aspire to. Working hard means just killing yourself faster (but not fast enough).

Well, yeah, the thinking is left to you and the software.

Why not build the CNC router? It's a surprisingly simple machine, you could build one of any size yourself. There's even open source firmware and designs around. Bonus points for making it double as a laser etcher/cutter :D

You waited 3 hours for a passport appointment?

Is that how it would be? So, like AMD and ATi? Damn, that's kind of sad.

This is really interesting! What about applicants who didn't go through a bootcamp, but have decent projects on their website/Github/whatever? Is it the fact that you can't verify if they actually built that themselves or just copied/stole it?

Some people on Reddit did say they completed 2-3 month bootcamps/courses with no prior experience and got junior dev jobs (in the UK), so I don't even know. Then again it's online and on Reddit, so they may be just lying.

I believe it is possible to learn enough to be decent in 3 months full time, and then learn everything else as you go. However, I don't see anyone hiring with that kind of experience.

But then why pay for a certificate? Four figures, no less. You could go through a bunch of free programming courses in 3 months and print your own certificate, same thing as long as you can actually do a job...

I meant the eBay seller. But yeah, the W10 bootloader is finnicky as hell, GRUB has nothing on it. Did you try an older version of W10, like LTSB or LTSC?

Well, sadly I can't think of anything that could help... but I will say that some update made my Win10 installation hibernate randomly (event log says due to "CPU overheating" - there is no overheating).

I thought it stopped when I converted 2 disks from dynamic (mirror mode) to basic (2 independent drives), but it still happens, albeit way less frequently. Create a mirrored volume and it's 2-3 times a day.

I sure as hell am not blaming my hardware, Win10 used to work fine, Linux works fine, Windows 7 works fine.

What do you install it from and what software do you use to build the installation image?

Perhaps he was trying to install Windows 10 using a USB stick.

The various software for that builds the image for either legacy BIOS or UEFI, and they're not interchangeable. Rufus, for example, lets you specify the mode.

Alternatively, if you can't install it in UEFI mode, you can switch to legacy BIOS/CSM mode in your machine's BIOS (or vice versa).

It gets worse - some Win10 ISOs themselves are made for either UEFI (most common) or legacy BIOS, and they can't be set up the other way.

You can clone or run Win10 legacy BIOS/CSM installations on other machines/drives (useful if you plan on swapping/upgrading), while UEFI will only run on the specific motherboard/CPU you installed it on.

I've also noticed Win10 in UEFI mode can BSOD with no chance of recovery when undervolting too much and causing it to freeze/BSOD. Something must be getting corrupted, and it won't run again, ever. Legacy mode works fine.
