Student loans actually can be discharged in bankruptcy. There’s been this myth floating around for awhile. Yes it is harder and it’s a bit more work for your lawyer but is absolutely doable.
in these mostly socialist countries, the top income bracket starts much much lower than in the US. these countries tax the middle class and consumption with VAT ranging from 15-21% on consumption. in spain the top bracket starts around 60,000 euros a year and its 45% not including local tax.
these policies and similar ones in other countries in effect keep the rich rich and make it much, much harder for the poor/middle class to move up.
in a very wealth neighborhood of Honolulu, think where the average home is 4-5+ Million USD, a japanese owner of many houses 20+ wanted to build a gallery for his art. the wealthy neighbors didnt want it so what he did instead was rent all of his houses to low income hawaiians and put the art out on one of his vacant lots. they were mainly weird statues. naked greek gods etc. Just goes to show what people can do when sufficiently motivated.
for anyone that wants to read further his name is Kawamoto and he was recently arrested for Tax evasion in japan and was forced to sell his Kahala Homes Portfolio
amazon has required me to re-enter card numbers when shipping to an address not associated with that card. I have bought on Amazon in the US, Spain and Mexico with this happening each time.
LLCs are passthrough entities so you pay what your personal rate. You still pay self employment tax however this might spur some to change their structure to benefit from new tax proposal
Edit: there is also a proposal to change how partnerships and pass through entities are to be taxed.
I've been 100% remote for the last 8 years. I recently have been commuting for personal reasons and its only 30 min each way and I can already feel the drain it causes. Over a working career a normal commute(30min-1hour) each way can add up to a massive amount of lost time. Working remote is optimal for the kind of work I'm doing now. Previously I was running a larger business and we started to run into issues around 50 people on a remote team. There's advantages to both. I think the ideal environment is 4 days remote, 1 day in an office for in person meetings. To combat being out of contact with people in the business/industry, I attend as many conferences and meetups as I can.
same thing happened in my city(honolulu). where there was once a very thriving barnes and noble there is now a Ross dress for less(discount clothing). its sad really. There's only 1 book store left in a metropolitan area with more than 1M people.
working out(surfing, jiu jitsu and interval training), lots of sleep(had to work on getting to bed early enough and shutting down use of computers/electronics before bed), meditation and drinking more water. Also I noticed switching to a standing desk has helped open up my hips and I am generally more flexible when doing Jiu jitsu.
the fee is not on the return its on the balance. so if you make money, they make money. if you lose money they still make money. mutual fund feeds end up being massive over a long period of time which is why financial advisors do so well if they have a big enough asset base
lastpass premium, works well across all my devices. for a little more security you can use a yubikey with lasspass. this isnt without its issues but i think its sufficient for most.
I'd say it depends on what the costs are. If he has to rack up a TON of student loan debt it may not make much sense. You can make friends and social connections outside of school if you create the environment to do that. Its a lot easier in school but to avoid the traps of student loan debt its probably better to continue making/creating software if thats the end goal.
