That’s the size of active duty but it’s a conscript army so in case of a war there would be a general mobilization of the 900k trained conscripts

I just don’t know how great the IPs at Xbox game studios are. They have a few staples but most studios they bought have struggled to put out any major successes in the last 5+ years. There’s only a few Pokémon’s and Harry potters out there. They even ran Halo to the ground ffs

This definitely exists in the medical sector but it’s in the sales org. Plus I’m sure they have people who come over to show how to operate the MRI machine you bought

Tele-operation through a video feed(?) inside my home. Yeah that sounds pretty creepy

> sometimes shit happens and debts go unpaid

What’s wild is that this is pre-debt. The banks will have their own risk math for you so it’ll be a completely separate set of hoops before you get to be in debt as a company. Most will not even talk to you if you have 0€ in the business account. I don’t feel like a company with no assets or income can do that much damage to their societies.

Also as a small company in the EU I have to have liability insurance for the company for any major clients so the insurance company also will make you jump through further hoops.

I love how we’re now reinventing the browser as a much worse version of itself. What if instead of one or two general Web browsers we make everyone install 10 random versions that can only open one website?

Isn’t engineering always overlooked? It’s like a means to and end to non-engineers.

The best case for engineering is always: nothing went horribly wrong in public.

We’ve had our AI budget per Engineer cut twice now since the peak mania in early 2026 and Fable was banned even before it was removed by Anthropic due to cost. It’s still used a lot but I think maybe they’re not really seeing the ROI especially when some people spent thousands and thousands per month on dubious AI things.

Personally I truly can’t manage that many tasks (really 1 or 2 max) in parallel with these since you need to think very hard about everything the AI spits out because they’re such natural bullshitters and you end up in places where no one on the team understands anything in the project

Try mint on a live boot. I’ve found it to be the most “just works” on various laptops

That’s not really true at studios - maybe at Unreal and Unity they get paid normal wages. I know some people working on the in house engine and rendering of AAA studios and they make like 60% of what I make in general big-ish tech backend

This is so hyperbolic I don’t even know what to say. A 1000x Engineer? Have you actually used these tools?

In my area it feels like it’s competing against go which is a language purposefully designed for the thing we’re building and has a great tool chain already. I never really wanted JavaScript. It’s not a very thoughtfully designed language and the not very good design was made for the browser. I just used node because it was simple to get it working. And you have bun and things like that competing for the space too

Just the build quality on MacBooks compared to your random PC laptop piece of plastic that falls apart within a few years would make me very picky. I have a random “corporate” Lenovo and everything physical in it is way way worse than in my work MacBook

Feels like musical chairs. We’ll see how long until it’s just a few oligarchs with their robot software teams

Plus they are super inaccurate. Gemini gets one of its three bullet subtly or very majorly wrong almost every time. Just a few weeks ago Gemini said we’re rolling out our payment setup in Russia. You know the place where we have 20+ sanctions packages on? We were talking about France in the meeting.

Don’t try to make money from it and you can still do fun things in life
