> controllable variables first—fix the biology (carnivore protocol, heavy lifting, Zone 2 to restore drive and reverse metabolic softness that fuels despair)
I was born in 1982—so it’s not as if I’ve only just discovered Myst. What I did find astonishing, however, was that in 1997—four years after its release (which felt like an eternity back then)—Myst was still the second-best-selling PC game in the U.S. and worldwide. In first place: its sequel, Riven.
Riven wasn’t released until late October 1997. It took the game just over two months to overtake every other title sold throughout the entire year and shoot to the top of the U.S. and global PC annual charts. Over 1.5 million copies were sold in a very short time.
Knoppix got really popular in Germany in the 2000s when it was still common that PC magazines were sold with CD-ROMs. Especially c't, Germany's most prestigious computer magazine, made Knoppix popular with their bootable Linux CDs for data rescue issues.
I would have subscribed to that before Trump‘s second term. Nowadays for many Europeans great product is not a necessary feature to choose European over American.
"Of the 602 promises identified, only 19 percent were fulfilled within the timeframe set by Musk. In 35 percent of cases, the claims were never fulfilled or were fulfilled later, sometimes with a delay of several years."
In my view, these were less about liberal causes and more about general humanitarian efforts, such as vaccinations, education and fighting world hunger—things that were generally considered good regardless of political affiliation, before the GOP was completely taken over by a madman.
"XAI, the artificial intelligence company Elon Musk created and recently merged into SpaceX, is not helping on that front. The filing shows SpaceX directed around 60% of its capital spending in 2025 to its AI division, or around $20 billion. And yet that division — which houses the chatbot Grok — lost billions last year, and only grew revenue by about 22%. That’s far below the reported revenue growth rates at frontier AI labs."
