wow... aclu is a joke. unconstitutional? sorry but illegal immigrants are not protected by the constitution. why do the democrats fail to understand this?
This comment precisely exemplifies what it's parent describes. One-sided self-righteous talking-point drivel. None of your points in the second sentence are based in reality. NONE. No one was banned by religion, green card holders and those with valid visas were let in. Trump came out last night and explicitly said he wants to protect lgbt -- he is the most pro-gay President let alone Republican in history yet the false narrative from the leftist media is contrarian.
I completely agree with the parent comment. Every single time I've seen a dissenting opinion on this site it is flagged (greys out the comment) into oblivion and downvoted to the bottom.
You're throwing out labels and name calling while reciting the same made-up garbage that led your party to lose, and will lead it to lose in 4 more year as well.
The left is NOT liberal, remember that. Classical Liberalism is dead, replaced by a faux-culture war fighting, race-baiting, self-righteous, entitled, and massively misguided maintstream media-driven movement that has completely gone off the rails.
who cares about any of this? it will have 0 real world impact on Uber just as the starbucks boycott will have 0 real world impact on starbucks... just more hysteria
how is it wrong? is it wrong for a sovereign nation to take care of it's own national interests even if that offends some people? most of what is happening is media-driven hysteria with masses of people that haven't even read the words of the executive order. Do you have proof that Bannon is a neo-nazi? I've heard quite the opposite but it's a common leftist talking point so if that's where you got it I understand.
> This policy is misguided and evil from the ground up. If this program had been in place twenty years the number of terrorist attacks it would have prevented is zero.
So what did you say when Obama temporarily (6 months) banned refugees?
If you think this will bring LESS needles then you are gravely mistaken. Go take a stroll up to Vancouver to the safe-injection site they are modeling this after and you'll discover destitute conditions in a large radius.
Seattle's homeless problem is possibly one of the worst in the nation, likely due in part to the friendly & enabling atmosphere the city and it's citizens have provided. By denying these people hitting their bottoms, they will never have a chance at cleaning up and returning to society.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I would say this was predictable if you followed politics closely for the past two years especially as the primaries got underway. It was also predictable if you actually took the time to investigate Donald Trump past the negative media sound bites and listened to what he intended to do when elected.
I feel that in the very liberal city I am in, people are so blocked by their emotions and righteousness that competent communication isn't even an option. I have witnessed people freaking out big time. One person on facebook I am worried about. It's affecting their mental and physical health and it makes me wonder if instant access to information, social media, the internet, and 24 hour news cycles are all contributing to the downfall of civilization?
the numerous polls that showed DJT losing in a "landslide" were shown to be wrong with his historic upsetting win. cnn, huffingtonpost, fivethirtyeight -- amongst many others these mainstream sources clocked Trump's chances of winning at 1.8% - 26%... any argument for their veracity just seems foolish
1) the only people pissed off are the left/democrats because for the first time in a long time they are not in control.
2) not going to happen.
3) why would he need to run for President to do something he's already done multiple times? sorry but not true.
4) he's put his own personal reputation and net worth on the line to run for office, he's been a billionaire for many years, he's divesting from his companies, and he's 70 years old.. sorry but not true
So are you implying that by mere virtue of being a successful business person you are disqualified or somehow morally inept in regards to our Presidency?
You could make the same arguments that past Presidents could be influenced by lobbyists, super pacs, etc etc; what's the difference?
It's also possible that Trump realizes how valuable America is and has been for his own life and his final act is to run for President and enact changes he thinks will benefit America.
Dual citizenship doesn't really make sense to me... when past generations left Europe for example and came to the US, they had to pledge allegiance to the flag and abandon their foreign citizenship.
Why are dissenting comments on HN displayed with light grey font color? In fact it seems rather odd that comments which seemingly go against the overwhelmingly uniform consensus on this site are highlighted at all.
