Nitpicking on style: hover animation on the books could not be capped by the container size and just overflow the content. Great case for page transition. Move the 3d book into the space where it will be located with single view.

Firefox user here too.

A sympathize, but my EU biz bets on US tech. We are in a tricky position now. So every 'Look ma I moved away from US big tech' post triggers me. Details: https://blog.fortrabbit.com/us-against-them

I like the historical parts of it with defunct (like dotCloud became Docker). From my space (PHP cloud) a couple of historical ones are missing: Pagoda Box (now merged into DO), CloudControl, PHP Fog, AppFog … But those are gone for a while now.

Much respect for the ambitous plan, I wish I could do such bold thinking. I am running a small PHP PaaS (fortrabbit) for more than 10 years. For me, it's not only "scratch your own itch", but also "know your audience". So, a limited feature set with a high level of abstraction can also be useful for some users > clear path.

As usual HN is my go to source for everything. Is there another thread, like "Tell HN: Bluesky is down"?

Status page says: "We are investigating an incident with service in one of our reginos" - regions maybe?

Got that too. My first reaction: Go to HN to understand what's going on. Where are the comments?

Thanks. You don't need to convince me much. I was curious to post a more controversial comment. It's my specific perspective, we run a small hosting business: German company running on American infrastructure (AWS), serving a global customer base. This is much harder to defend these days. We really don't need 'US against them' or 'EU against them'. I am writing a blog post about it.

I don't like all the 'us against them' rhetoric going on. All that European alternatives talk is not much better than America first.

Nice. For the records, there are some PHP based systems doing static file (in general, some generated, some rendered): Kirby CMS, Statamic, Jigsaw, Grav …

The original Heroku often gets praised here. Rightfully so. It inspired many. We started our PHP PaaS [0] 13 years, ago. Most of the others from that area are long gone. PagodaBox, CloudControl, PhpFog …

Commission launches market investigations on cloud computing services under the Digital Markets Act https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_25_...

> Two market investigations will assess whether Amazon and Microsoft should be designated as gatekeepers for their cloud computing services, Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, under the DMA, in other words whether they act as important gateways between businesses and consumers, despite not meeting the DMA gatekeeper thresholds for size, user number and market position.

Dear smart people on HN, what do you make of this? I understand most of you are US based. Is that Amazon getting ready for serious trade war, US/EU?
