Lmao I'm no David Fowler fan (leftist blowhard), but he's one of the most talented and successful engineers at Microsoft. I don't think he needs to build a resume.
I don't have an opinion of Elon Musk. What would you say to those who think he's a value-add to the world, or are completely neutral about them (as I am)?
Do you really think your values are that pervasive, even here in HN (which tends towards an echo chamber)?
As a person who does consulting work, the best thing I've found I can do is stay visible with my accomplishments.
I did a presentation earlier this year for a client where the CEO was in attendance. I did not know he was going to be there. They were blown away by my presentation.
Thanks for all of the comments. I wasn't replying simply because I haven't seen them, but based on the comments I actually got: I feel like my words would be like yelling into a vacuum regardless of what I actually say.
* Network effect, or lack thereof. Very few people use it.
* Its nature is contrary to the ecosystem. The CLR is fundamentally resistant to the paradigms that F# creates.
Wonderful little language - one of my favorites - and we owe a lot to it for the great features that C# has. But it just hasn't picked up the critical mass it needs.
