The risk for Central Banks holding their own bullion is low, away from the almighty Dollar, and Gold has never ceased to hold value, while Silver is actually useful but seriously overbought.

We're actually paying a premium for risk-averseness in the very nature of Gold, an asset that produces no dividends other than holding its own intrinsic value.

This time the bullish-on-Gold news outlets are right: there are fundamentals driving the madness that is the Market.

Something about Japanese rice futures candlestick school of days past predicting sell-off after 8 to 10 sucessive record highs...

Summing it up, the volatility specially of Gold (Silver is a bubble may I remind you) doesn't discount the possibility of an overall upward trend of years for Gold and a respectable USD$4000 for the spot troy ounce does not seem crazy at all, as momentum builds for regime change in Iran.

It's a plain analysis. Trump may not TACO on this and after hell on Earth is unleashed, Gold will actually see action to unprecedented levels. Maybe. Maybe not, but USD$4000? I doubt very much it would break through that support level.

You know kids, in the 80s, a lot of time before the First Crypto Wars, we had something called the Porn Wars on American Congress. I could leave out many depositions to Congress on Youtube, but I will leave you with some good music.

Which is of course the European Version, not the evil American Version.

That's good to know!

C is immensely powerful, portable and probably as fast as you can go without hand-coding in the architecture-specific assembly. Most of the world's information systems (our cyberstructure) rely directly or indirectly on C. And don't get me wrong, I'm a great enthusiast of the idea of sticking to memory-safe languages like Rust from now on.

The hard truth is will live with legacy C code, period. Pizlo's heroic effort bridges the gap so to speak, it kind of sandboxes userspace C in a way that inherently adds memory safety to legacy code. There are only a few corner cases now that can't be bothered by any slow-down vis-a-vis unsafe C, and the great majority of code across every industry would benefit much more from the reduced surface of exposure.

@d_silin no disrespect towards Sonny White, he may well be onto something, but as it stands I've had posts flagged by the mods for much less, so without the hard evidence to back this, I'm a little skeptical - of YC mods LOL

> So I get the data back from the Batch API and start playing around with it, and the big thing I find, and this will probably come as no surprise to anyone, is that the AI hype train is currently at its highest point on Hacker News since the start of 2019.

@zachperkel while a train is stimulative of impressions of something growing over time, in perspective, such as the "Trump Train", I'm pretty sure you meant trend? As in the statistical meaning of trend, a pattern in data?

AI hype is driven by financial markets as any other financial craze since the Tulip Mania. Is this an opinion, or a historical fact? Gemini at least tells me via Google Search that Charles Mackay's Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds is a historical work examining various forms of collective irrationality and mass hysteria throughout history.

As per my other comment, to me, the Waveshaper 50% duty cycle sounds strikingly like the Fourier 25% duty cycle.

Is this something to expect or is there still an error in the code?

Also, New Inquisition by Robert Anton Wilson. A huge treatise on epistemology and philosophy of Science and much more "mindfucker" than his fiction.

Hi Sergio, I mailed you an open proposal for a Junior kernel-hacking position in this stellar team of yours. The end-goal (objective) is astounding and the initial goals for the objective are daunting to say the least!

Citing that it might be cumbersome for App Stores to implement the order then revert it, de Moraes reverted the order for Google and Apple to ban VPNs from Stores.

I bet it won't stop there. He won't be satisfied until he blocks Tor too, which X / Twitter could plausibly setup as an Onion service.

This is all because the National Assembly that promulgated the 1988 Brazilian Constitution chose to specifically ban anonymity. It's on paragraph IV, article 5 of Brazilian Constitution.

I got downvoted for posting the obvious topic here so once again: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41316512
