It's not at all uncommon. I didn't have a usable work phone number for years given that, even when I technically had a desk, I was never there. I always used my personal phone and, for that matter, laptop for that matter.

You presumably live in or near a city.

When I was doing more presentations than I do today, I didn't reuse presentations (unless it was part of some sort company roadshow). But, yes, I'd reuse bits and pieces--often tweaked--rather than each presentation being created from scratch.

Xbox is a sideshow at Microsoft at this point--and arguably has been one for a very long time. Yes, it brings in non-trivial revenue but not a lot of profit. I don't really expect that you'll see new Xbox-related development in a few years.

I needed a new DVD player and I pretty much splurged on an Xbox. But I haven't really used it for gaming.

Another prolific English author (of mostly children's books) was Enid Blyton who wrote somewhere between 700 and 800 books.

Absolutely. When I was doing a more full-time analyst thing, I didn't reuse content wholesale but there was often very little point in rewriting an explanation of some basic concept with different words. (And, yes, as to volume, it really adds up if you're doing 1,000 words or so most weekdays.)

The main reason I used Medium was that, for a period, I had personal stuff in a company newsletter and cross-posted stuff on Medium seemed more official than a personal blog. Haven't used it in years.

I do have a Substack account but have zero interest in monetizing and, after a fair bit of back and forth, I just put all my stuff on a Blogger account I've had for years.

Sortof. Top research universities are mostly not vocational schools. But they do mostly figure on you picking up, say, Python on your own alongside the algorithms classs (and a ton of basic mechanical stuff).

I was a TA in grad school and did some tutoring and some students just didn't have the math basics they needed. I could help with a few things but couldn't really teach remedial high school math.

"Easily making six figures on Substack" is doing a lot of work there. But I agree that, if you're seriously looking to make money, Substack is probably a better avenue than having a blog someplace.

There was a pretty small slice of bloggers like Michael Arrington who really put in a lot of time and created a brand/company that did pretty well off blogging (for a time). But blogging then and now is pretty much a side-gig for a lot of people that doesn't bring in much money. Which is fine. But social media, which has itself contracted, has cut into a lot of that.

There's a difference between informal expectations and requirements. We don't have indentured servitude in the US although if an employee does quit right after a paid relocation, a company may try to claw back those expenses. (Not sure there's any real legal backing to that or if it would be worth it for the company to try too hard.)

Very few mechanical engineers for example are licensed.

Well, yes, I'm talking about ~1g on earth. And, also yes, rock type makes a difference but I assume there is some commonality with the tallest peaks.

I seem to recall for some long-ago course that the 8,000m peaks are up around the compresssive limit so yoou couldn't really have a taller mountain.

I would have said cloud and AI but dot com probably works too.

I think it probably depends too on what different people's living situations are. I have an exurban house with a large driveway and I've basically never had an issue with an Amazon delivery. (Yes, it can be late sometimes but I can track it and I'm usually not in a rush.)

I honestly don't know where the nearest Costco is but it's nowhere convenient.

In fairness, Amazon does seem to have improved in this regard. There's less plastic and fewer comically oversized boxes.

Not groceries, which I'm typically buying locally anyway. But I'll frequently drive to a store for some item I need.
