People overestimate progress in physical world. 2035: robot population will soon be larger than the human one

I'd bet that in most places 9 years is about the time needed to build a residential building. I think a good way to think about this is to think of this as producing a serial car. From pitching and capital acquisition to building a prototype to software, regulatory and then the final product which needs multiple factories and supply chains. Yes, of course robots sound cooler and there are compounding effects yada yada, but on the other side there are as many obstacles as things that accelerate this product (like capital acquisition and fearmongering of gov to bend regulatory stuff faster).

No, reheating for sure will evaporate some compounds and might even overextract it, especially if there are still tiny particles in the coffee - like in moka or ibrik (cezve). Again, drink your shot at room temp or close to it. If brewed correctly, it would be somewhat close to tea or juice. It will still taste good, just cold. Mostly as coffee cools it becomes less bitter, more sweet and a tiny bit pleasantly acidic, more clear and less oily.

Some coffeeshops even recommend to taste it while it cools off and not drink straight away.

At WBC judges need to evaluate coffee as it cools down. Some people brew coffee using extract chilling - over a cool steel ball or using chilled portafilters.

I really don't understand how this myth of 'dead' shots still exists.

Agree to disagree.

Espresso, pour overs and even cupping shows you different aspects of the coffee when it cools. In fact, if you follow SCA cupping protocol, one of the most important parts is to evaluate the coffee at room temperature.

I can't recall any amazing cups I drank that became worse when they were cool (both V60s and espresso). They become sweet and syrupy, less harsh and bitter. They taste like juice and it just makes you joyful for some reason, it is almost unbelievable that this is coffee.

It is a myth that an espresso shot 'dies' if you let it sit. A good espresso shot won't become worse.

Yeah this practice needs to end. You buy a stack of hardware+software that does X.

Imagine if pizza consisted of software and hardware and you only bought hardware but software could be changed by dev/seller. Now your pizza shrunk in size, changed taste, or could only be eaten by a fork that is supplied for free by the pizzashop, otherwise special chemical compounds would make it disintegrate if you'd try to eat it using your hands or anything else. Technically you still have that pizza you bought...

Your fridge became dependent on updates. Then they added ads to front panel. Then they'll say that you need a subscription to use holiday mode. Then it no longer receives update and touch panel stops working because it can't connect to servers and you'll need to buy a new one or buy an upgraded touch panel for $99 instead of $199 if you'll buy it this week.

So technically they just said that their printers would be less popular if Orcaslicer ceased to exist.

I, uh, read the title as 'Russian poisons wikipedia', as if there is a list of poisons Russia uses...

Indeed. When I was just starting every blog and tweet screamed micro-management sucks. It does if the manager does this all the time. But sometimes it is extremely important and prevents disasters.

I guess best managers just develop the hunch and know when to do this and when to ask engineers for smallest details to potentially develop different solutions. You have to be technical enough to do this

Support systems often do this - they stream message and agents already see what you are typing. I know a few banking apps that do this.

Remember to donate to them. They are amazing - free software, great community and they do so much stuff

Artifact by instagram founders. I discovered it (and thought it's great) by reading their termination announcement.

This is great. I thought about a different model even before plasticlist: make a subscription and test various products, but people will have a number of upvotes based on their sub streak. They vote for food to test, and then you show results to everyone subbed. Kind of like what examined does, but they do deep dives into medical topics for subs. I think this model will work better than the one you currently have. Awesome project anyways!

It is extremely weird to me that countries don't do that on taxpayers money and show the results publicly, this is what they should do.

I suppose there are Corsi–Rosenthal box designs out there for 3d printing. We don't have filters like this here, otherwise I'd make such a diy purifier instead of buying one

I use a different air purifier, a pretty basic xiaomi one. There are two downsides: it is quite big (I don't mind really) and it can be loud at a high speed.

I host movie nights with friends and sometimes someone might even smoke in the room, air purifier clears the air quite fast and there absolutely are no odors left. So yeah you can and if you solder or 3d print often, I'd suggest to get one, they don't cost much.

I'm not allergic and air here is basically always perfect - 1-5 ppm, but I still love it. It does filter out allergens and people allergic to pets find it easier to breathe (I have a dog). It also lowers amount of dust a bit, and I have an automation to run it on full speed when robot vacuums floors, I think it might help filter some stuff out.

I wish there'd be a way to put activated carbon packs inside somehow, because I'd love to change it more often than the full filter.

Funny, I pitched a much more useful version of this like two years ago with clear use-cases and value proposition

I did not say it was something like an m82. I just wanted to say I believe it wasn't a pistol.

He kicked back hard, so the shooter was using a powerful rifle, I suppose a sniper rifle. Wound is huge, not a pistol wound.

He was shot in the neck because the shooter is amateur and didn't account for the bullet drop on this distance.
