I only save full page with Evernote (which is the default when you save using their clipper). Means I have it offline and available if the page changes. If it's something where I want it to update I'll bookmark instead in my browser.
I agree with you about the news feed. FB messenger is still the easiest way to contact people (almost everyone has it, you don't need any information being a name). Events are great for easily informing people of what you're doing. Groups are great for alerting a group of people to some information (basically better mailing lists).
The fact that in India and China (very different cultures) there are a lot of female programmers doesn't say anything about cultural influences in the West. Being encouraged to do maths at age 5 is not the norm (regardless of gender).
Even if cars were only used by each person a couple of times a week that's still a massive improvement over commuting everyday. (I also think you're exaggerating, toilet paper can easily fit in a backpack.)
