At least Alpine and Arch use the demo (testing) version. IIRC their initial announcement said that the distros can continue using the demo version and not the stable version unless they pay. And no distro can get the stable version even by paying because Brad knows that the distro would have to redistribute the sources as per GPLv2 and thus he will only make ridiculously high offers.
There is no distro or any other consumer product that does or ever will have the stable patches. Brad is a greedy asshole and all around a bad person.
What a horrible choice for a name. Canonical has had Mir for a while now. Choosing an unique name isn't that hard. Not everything needs to be 3 letters.

I've been reading HN since around 2010 and to me it seems that there is now less hostility about technical topics but more hostility against anyone who isn't 100% politically correct. I also think that the quality of comments has decreased dramatically since.
> No one outside of HN that I interact with discusses HN, and if there's ever discussion of this stereotype here, I've missed it.
Many IRC communities I'm part of know HN and sometimes discuss it and the stereotype in those seems to be that HN users are overly sensitive, hypocritical, greedy and toxic. Many of them are also former HN users who now hate the site.
And if these limitations (frequencies, output power) for radio technology were lifted do you think we would have something that has the benefit of both worlds?
What would be the negative effects, if there are even any?
Hmm. I could have sworn there has been some way to make the quotes more distinguishable but maybe I was wrong...
Hacker news post limits for shadowbanned people really suck as well. Especially when the ban was for no good reason. Even worse is that HN only has perma bans. Oh wel...
