Completely free to use. There is a premium plan for £2.99 a month but yes, oversight on my part - I've added a pricing table to the homepage

I think there 2 main groups of people that these static site generators are aimed at. 1) People who care more about cost than anything else. You can host a static site for free with github pages and the like. 2) People who don't modify the content too often meaning that they don't care too much if the site takes 5 minutes to update.

Other people I've seen use them to great effect are photographers who have static sites generating based exclusively of images that they upload. As there's no real text content, they don't end up doing many "changes" as they generally upload images in bulk.

As with any site that requires you to upload images of yourself, I did check the privacy policy first. Thankfully there isn't anything too objectionable there. Might need a little more training on women though as it seems to be guessing massively under for those that tested.

I think what's really interesting, and I go into this in the article, that most RSS readers nowadays don't say anything about them using RSS. I don't think it's dead either, but I do think end-users will become less and less aware of it as a thing.

I would agree that it actually seems to be going through a resurgence at the moment. The article comes to a similar conclusion by the end
