>> Fwiw I am a c/c++ systems engineer. I think anyone mentioning anecdotal experience like this should clarify. Maybe frontend JavaScript folks have a totally different take and that's expected.

Similar experience, having transitioned from full-stack to a dedicated C/C++ stack, learned/experienced firsthand that there is no one-size-fits-all tool.

“Just do enough good...”, it is hard to define what is "good". This tech has many dimensions and second-order effects, yet all the tech giants claim it a “net positive” without understanding fully what is unfolding.

>> enabled by the internet, does the internet exist for this purpose? Of course not.

I think point article was trying to make: LLMs and new genAI tools helped the scammers scale their operations.

Design looks almost like iPhone. Seems like the design patents have expired.

Sometime back watched a video explaining how Fernando Alonso's breaking style is similar to ABS, but with him modulating the brake force he was able to outbrake others and gain time lap over lap.

Got curious, tried at low speeds & surprised how much the brake force modulation reduces the stoping distance. It has become a habit now and when the speed drops like maybe to 40mph or less instinctively modulate the braking.

This! I think people from south east Asia can relate to this. I’ve been an active rider for over a decade before coming to US. When counter steering was taught in the motorcycle safety program,it felt counter intuitive. One reason I can think of is back in my home country max speeds were under 50mph where you dont have to counter steer that much.
