I strongly believe the (historic) widespread adoption of Hinduism is the reason India is in the horrible state it is in today. It is the root of most of India's problems. If India had become a buddhist country back in the day... things would have been much better. The reasons are plain to see.
Idiotic Caste system,
Hindus systematic oppression of minorities.
Crying about being in danger inspite of Hindus comprising about 80% of the polulation.
