Kudos for directing folks to other projects if uPlot isn't fast enough for them. Every developer should take the time to write out appropriate and inappropriate use-cases on the readme.
I've received two used products from Amazon (bought as "new") in just the last year. First was an espresso machine. It wasn't even cleaned - coffee grounds were everywhere. The second was a robot vacuum that had a full dust bin. After turning it on, I could see the previous owner's home layout in its memory. In both cases, the product still worked and it wasn't worth the hassle of returning. Whenever I buy something, I make sure to check for non-Amazon alternatives, even box stores.
Every(3) startup from my experience said that they're working on providing a 401k, but never delivered. It would be hard to find a BigCo that didn't provide a 401k for engineers (or pension). On that fact alone, I'd say BigCo has treated me better.
I recently left a company where the CTO was exactly this kind of personality. He's actually an awful programmer but he complains so much about other people's code that management sees him as the authoritative figure. Despite his behavior directly causing a high turnover rate for engineering, the founders have still kept him around because they're brainwashed into his elitist point of view. When you're in a situation like that, you're better off jumping ship. Nothing will improve...
