I'm nonbinary, not mtf/ftm. that claim is wrong though. trans people, similar to most, have their gender as part of their identity. however, their body displays a different gender. they then seek to make their body match their identity.

the idea is similar to viewing one-self's identity as having clear skin but having tons of pimples which people constantly comment on (via pronouns). transitions clear the skin

Where does Free Press source the claim that 200 professors were fired due to cancel culture? I looked on the site because I want to see the actual reasons the professors were fired (reasons can be justified) but could not find them. The linked The Fire website displays zero results for filtering by "Outcome is Termination"

I think that something causes widespread harm and so I want that thing more regulated. If the EFF's article only touched on the First Amendment problem, I would wholeheartedly agree with them - it's the other parts which sat poorly with me. I believe that social media's desire and displayed ability to gain, maintain, and control people's attention is dangerous and that the government should highly regulate that danger. I continue to support free speech, including free speech on those platforms.

Yeah. I've donated hundreds of dollars to the EFF, but cancelled my recurring donation after reading the EFF's response to that article because I believe the world would be a better place without social media. As you said, the EFF's article lacked scientific rigor - and its dismissal of non-physical harm sat especially poorly with me. I don't regret my previous donations to the EFF and still agree with their overall mission, but I can no longer support them.

if claiming something is bogus, then provide evidence of your claim. otherwise your claim holds less weight than the one you oppose.

fyi the site was written in or before 2011

reasons for the theory:

- A comment within the HTML says "Mirrored from www.2020symposium.com/ by HTTrack Website Copier/3.x [XR&CO'2010], Sat, 04 Jun 2011 00:50:49 GMT"

- the website URL contains the numbers "2010-11"

- all references contain dates less than or equal to 2010

I agree about the article's poor communication and the adverse affect advertising has wrought on news and on the broader internet

Yeah. NordVPN is an example of this handwaviness. They refuse to delete my account to which I can successfully log into and which I've never used because they claim that as "a security-oriented company we do not take account change or deletion requests lightly, hence we request payment information to confirm ownership of the account, as we would not want anyone but the rightful owner making such changes." Problem being, I've never paid NordVPN, and when I told them as much and asked what security problem could result from them deleting an unused account, they didn't respond.
