I’m a vintage calculator tragic! I love what the C43/47 communities are doing in reviving RPL and RPN for a modern audience. What’s even more amazing, is that the DB48x calculator is a singular dev effort by the talented Christophe de Dinechin (I’ve contributed briefly to his code).

If you’re curious to try out RPN/RPL without buying hardware, then both the R47 and DB48x calculators are available as apps on the iOS App Store.

Those of you who want to go deeper down the rabbit hole, I strongly recommend you check out Calculator Culture — he reviews both modern and vintage devices; https://www.youtube.com/@CalculatorCulture

This is really impressive. At these speeds, it’s possible to run agents with multi-tool turns within seconds. Consider it a feature rich, “non-deterministic API” for your platform or business.

operata.com | Remote | AU/NZ | Full-time | Go/Python/K8 | Senior Software Engineer(s), Data Analyst(s)

We're a VC-funded startup that is building the world's first experience monitoring and assurance platform for cloud contact centers. Think Datadog / Segment for voice communications. We are a fast growing SaaS company backed by leading investors and our customers include global insurers, telcos, banks and technology companies. The co-founders and executive team have a proven track record of success, including high-profile acquisitions and IPOs. Read the investment notes here (https://tidal-prod.netlify.app/blog/investment-notes-operata).

We are fully remote-first, and aim to build and maintain an excellent DevOps experience and culture. We have a strong vision, some great customers, and are working collaboratively as a Product+Dev team to innovate in the voice/data space.

Our platforms are cloud-native and built on AWS, so we're looking for developers who have DevOps experience building infra at scale and also developers who love building products from the ground up with a mixture of technologies. Operata truly is a platform that runs "across the stack", so you'll have exposure solving problems across the network, the protocol and application layers (ie; WebRTC, CCaaS APIs), and on the front-end.

If you're keen to be part of our story, check out our roles (https://operata.com/careers/) or email me (in my profile) if you don't yet see the role listed.

What an awesome explainer! I love mechanical watches. I have a relatively cheap Stowa Antea which runs a simple hand-wound Peseux/ETA 7001. It’s so thin, the entire watch is less than 7mm thick. All of what you see in this explainer is crammed into that tiny space the size of a stamp.
