Maybe you're running on non-AWS cloud or on-prem. Maybe you want to run a function that is written in a language that isn't supported by Lambda. Maybe your function is too complex for Lambda or would be too expensive. Maybe you already have a Kubernetes cluster running so deploying OpenFaaS is trivial and comes at no additional cost.
You're spot on. counterparty is a better platform for token offerings, and was the dominant platform until the term "ICO" emerged, and all token sales took to ERC-20.
My Cassanda db can be "decentralized" too by your definition because I can have it distributed between multiple corporations, where multiple people have read/write access. This is extremely common practice.
People just assume it won't happen because we assume Facebook has deep security expertise. And we assume Equifax got hacked because they (evidently) didn't.

Personally I bike and walk exclusively (do not own a car) and would much prefer separated cycling/walking paths. I get that there is a cost associated with this, but I think the cost is comparatively low to that of even marginal improvements to highway infrastructure.
I'm talking about seeding though. Seeding data to random peers will make my internet slower, not faster. I don't want to seed. If your service makes my machine start seeding to random people because I accidentally visited a website that uses your malware, then that sucks!
Maybe implement some kind of blockchain solution so that I get paid for the data I seed? (/s)
Obviously the plugin isn't the issue, the fact that my browser will now be uploading X MB/sec, which I have no control over, to random peers. This sucks, especially because I have capped monthly bandwidth from my penny-pinching ISP.
