Nowhere on that website was there a "blanket statement" about all art. They said "I believe," not "It is stated fact."

I also share the opinion that having no interpretation can be either or since often I have no interpretation outside of "it looks neat" for something that later I find out has deep meaning for the author that is shared by others. I don't personally see it, but that's what I think.

Not OP, but I tend to use multiple sources via RSS. Iirc, Live Science covered the laser Hawaii one, and then the balloon stuff I either see on [there], here, or on social media elsewhere (or through friends).

RSS is the primary candidate through it all, though. Keeps everything relatively organized.

At the risk of not fitting into the conventional HN profile, the pandemic got me my current job. They were desperately needing to fill positions, and they were the only ones who would give me an interview.

Kinda stings to think about it happening that way, but it's work that isn't dread-inducing, so I'll take it :)

Same thing for Firefox on Android, it seems.

What flavor of bs would that be? I have no experience with, but aside from the usual "pay your own everything" and taxes, it seems like an alright place to be. I could also be very, or conditionally, wrong.

Run of the mill lab tech. Wish I had the privilege of remote work so I could focus on family instead of being gone for 10+ hours a day.

But that's a dream for other people who know how to make it happen. I take work where I can get it.

Personal/financial success issue:

Trying to figure out my life. I work a job I'm starting to hate because it's dead-end, but it pays well for what it is. Mentally exhausting though.

I haven't had time anymore to find something else, and to make it worse, it's not tech-related (in a broad sense, not just FAANG).

I'm kind of stuck where I am for a bit, but it pays the bills. I don't want extravagant, I just want a small place, far out of the way. Not into the "Van Life" thing though.

It's likely Rule 34 in this context has been reimagined as, "Someone cares just as much about $thing as you to [...]"

Other than that, yes, the original R34 version applies somewhere in the abyss.

What one may call "stale" I might call fun and interesting. That website certainly applies; I always enjoy seeing nice little places like that with an Old Web look!

Would have commented this same thing. It should be a matter of translating the coordinates into a search pattern to look at with JWST.

I would ask "Is there a BSDoom?" but this[0] might qualify.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. The GUI would be for one-off or intermittent usage, and the CLI program would still come in as the primary tool for scripting or recurring use.

What would classify as a private bank? IME, you're given the option for overdrafts regardless.

On one hand, I am of the laughing crowd. On the other, I have to wonder if there is something I (we?) are missing if these highly paid marketers and engineers are going after it.

Surely it's not so shortsighted as to be about a few (<10) percent in investments? There has to be a longer term plan if not that. Maybe I am wrong.

At the end of the day, I'm standing back, wondering which fire will blow out first.

Fellow "boring old town" member here. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Far away from me are the trivialities and concerns of concrete monoliths. I much prefer being able to walk outside on my own, and see open fields and forests where ever I turn.

Maybe I'm not an exception, but there are more than a few people who don't need much in life. A wood cabin in the mountains with 802.11 and solar power is all I need.

> If motivation were a battery you wouldn't try to recharge it and use it at the same time. It might get you a little more uptime but the stress leads to early failure.

Thank you for this. I've not thought of it in that way, but it is very accurate.

Genuine question: How many are written in Rust?

Maybe it's more "See, Rust can, too!" type software?

Footnote: I have not done extensive research, hence the question.

> projectM is an open-source project that reimplements the esteemed Winamp Milkdrop

I thought these visuals looked familiar. At first I thought it might have been based on a library used by MD, but this is much better news.
