Ask HN: Does Instagram have a new onclick effect?

I've noticed that Instagram has changed its onclick effect in the ios app. Previously, the selected pictures would show up instantly, now, it seems like they have added a visual effect to it. With the recent update of switching "Liked" with "Show Reels" has been an awful user experience.

Why would Instagram add this clicking effect?
