Not an expert but I expect most kids get their exercise through play, or maybe some team sports. I don't picture many kids readily swapping that for solitary running and bodyweight exercise.
That's a good point, I was rather assuming school kids missing physical education lessons than kids not being able to accidently exert themselves while playing with others. I thought it was about having to replace sport lessons with other activity.

I guess kids need gym class after all.
For context: having a walk or doing sports on your own were allowed even during lockdowns here in Germany, while I know that Australia had implemented very strict measures for example.
