Young covids (crows, jays) make lots of small, non-call type noises too.

It's actually "corvids". This pandemic certainly has trained our fingers to type "covid" a lot.
I think it may actually be autocorrect.
Autocorrect definitely puts "corvids" to "covid" on my phone, unsure of current android/google keyboard version running.
