Have you authored an original Wikipedia article? What is it about?

I have never authored an article, but I have edited many. I try to impart my knowledge into Wikipedia as much as possible. Any tidbit or piece of trivia I can think of, I either add to, or amend to on Wikipedia. Sidenote: I regularly binge on Wikipedia for long periods, hopping from link to link. It has made me very knowledgeable in a lot of areas, and my IQ has probably jumped a few points over the years because of it.
Have you been asked to review articles before? I didn't realise that the review process can take such a long time, so I am still waiting until I can make a claim to have authored my first Wikipedia article.
OCUR CableCard, quite a long time ago. It was deleted under the "notability" requirement.
Can you explain/elaborate on the "notability" requirement? I would have thought that knowledge or information is valuable because people use it, not because whether someone thinks it is notable or not.
