Ask HN: Domain Name Registrars in EU?
What EU based domain name registrars are you using and would recommend?

https://www.icann.org/en/accredited-registrars?filter-letter... is a good list.
I use OVH
The best registrar would be a registrar with no customer support or human intervention. Customer support agents are always the weakest link for domains when they get tricked into granting unauthorized access.
I would be wary of using any German registrar because of extremely weak privacy laws in the country (impressums etc)

https://www.infomaniak.com/en/domains - Not exactly EU, as it is Swiss-based. They often have pretty good prices, and good customer service.
Gandi.net
+1
They are super serious reliables dudes. One of the earliest registrar in Europe and the first in France.
They also support and contribute to open-source projects (code & money).
Far better than OVH.

I absolutely love https://porkbun.com
No bs, default WHOIS anonymity, always cheap prices, you can pay in crypto and very very nice support staff
//EDIT: Oh, they’re in the US :( Too bad, disregard
Try domainfactory.de, I used to have one there. Pretty good experience overall

I use eurodns.com because they have a wide range of TLDs (like .so) and are much cheaper than Gandi.
I've used https://all-inkl.com and https://hetzner.de both worked, all-inkl I thought had pretty good support.
Those are probably the two best webhosters in Germany. Have been an all-inkl.com customer for years, too.
I use united-domains.de
Their website is fast and allows batch queries for when you're trying to find a new project name. Prices are reasonable. I've never used their included hosting or email, though. 3rd party Nameservers like CloudFlare work great.

Oderland is another option: https://www.oderland.com/domains/
Maybe you can have a look at openprovider.eu. They have a membership, and with these memberships they have reduced cost prices.
Gandi.
Gandi lost their customers' data 2 years ago and if memory serves, their CEO blamed ZFS RAID(Z) "backup" which failed.
We're talking domains not storing data but I would think twice before trusting company with CEO referring to data existing on a single computer as "backed up".

inwx seems to have the broadest selection of TLD's if that matters to you.
hetzner.de
inwx.de
Cloudflare, Google domains
joker.com
