This was inevitable. I imagine there's more to come.
They are sold out on the Model Y until 2023, it is only natural to increase prices when demand is inelastic and they’re supply constrained (even when they’re building a car per minute at Fremont).
Does this mean that those who bought their cars before can resell in the used market for a better price ? Sounds great if you already own a Tesla.

I'd rather the manufacturer do it than the rent-seeking dealers, which is happening for cars other than Tesla.
Making up for that half a billion they lost on Bitcoin?
Nah. Catching up with government printing money like there is no tomorrow.
Would you say the same thing if they had stopped spending during the overnight shutdown of our economy and we plunged into a recession?
Governments are there to provide services. The last two years have been abnormal, this is when we expect our government to spend. When we’re back to normal and the economy is strong, you pull back.

Inflation?
Probably. Ford just reported they're no longer making profit on the Mach E due to rising costs from inflation.
