Is Heroku’s DNS down again?
Our production services just went down again due to DNS. Anybody else?

At this point, why even use Heroku? I'd be looking to migrate away as fast as possible after all the recent events in the past few years.
that's where my company is heading :( probably going to use render.com ... ugh, I don't want Heroku to fail.....
We had a site on CloudFlare lose its DNS settings earlier, I seem to remember them emailing us about upgrading their DNS systems so maybe it's all related.
at this point it is better to move to a self-hosted dokku at once.
yup - their site is down
Yes,it's down again
Seemed to be short lived for us. Total 5 mins downtime.
Interestingly, one of our Vercel apps was down too (got alerts for both app.codecrafters.io and codecrafters.io at the same time) - might've been a wider DNS outage? Resolved in 4 minutes for us.
Perhaps another NS1 outage? That’s what took down Heroku last time.
Looks like it: https://ns1status.com/#!/incident/367771

What's NS1? Is it related to the root zone hosting or is this just a company with a funny name?
They are a DNS hosting company that has been there for like, forever, since the days of zoneedit. Think AWS Route53, but run by a different company that only has that product. Clever name, "NS1", named after the ns1, ns2. etc domain names that are used for nameservers.
Good find!

I noticed this trying to get to the Heroku homepage, then checking another couple Heroku hosted sites I know of. Neither this nor the prior DNS issue affected our applications using CloudFront however.
Now posted as an issue on status.heroku: https://status.heroku.com/incidents/2454
