Not mentioned: the pen used for the handwriting sequences is the Papermate Flair, a common choice for "on-screen writing" in the standard definition era because of its heavy and clean line. The design is still sold today.
Thank you! I just ordered a set of the 0.7mm Flairs. It really does come out super clear on even the low res youtube uploads I've found.
You've taken me down a wonderful nostalgia hallway that I forgot existed. Thanks for posting this. That show was one of my favorites on PBS.
Me too, I remember we were really into this show when I was in the 3rd grade. We moved houses in that summer, and I think I remember the hacking episodes wrapping up the very day we moved out of the old house.
My sentiments exactly!
Same!
Same!
Had no idea that there’s a reboot of this show currently on AppleTV: https://tv.apple.com/us/show/ghostwriter/umc.cmc.3z6okqcnxoo...
We used to watch this in primary school (in mid-Wales c. 1995/96) as part of the school curriculum, I remember nostalgically searching for it on YouTube not so long back and noticed Samuel L. Jackson was a part of it.
Not Look & Read? "Magic, magic e" stayed with me a long time (and Dark Towers too)
Dark Towers was amazing and often quite creepy. My mother was in a few episodes about a boy that gets kidnapped (she played a kidnapper in it). I was about 7 at the time and I remember being really freaked out when they dyed his hair in a public toilet so he wouldn't be recognised. Seemed crazy they were giving kidnappers ideas!
Actually - maybe it wasn't Dark Towers, but it was a kids reading TV show. Will see if I can find it

Never heard of it. Feel like I should have, but checking YouTube, nope.
Thought this would be about the recent NN typewriter.
I used to think ghostwriter (for kids) was the coolest show
