Amazon lens keeps running camera in background (Amazon iOS app)
noticed that the 'amazon lens' feature keeps running in the background until you open another app, even after you exit the mode - i noticed this because you cannot launch the flashlight until you switch apps. not sure if the camera is actually running or some flag is not reset, but ios seems to think so as well.

It feels to me like the title should be updated. This isn't a discovery that it is using the camera in the background, but someone asking if it is.

If the camera is on, there is a green dot in the top bar (close to the battery indicator). Mic usage is shown via an orange dot iirc. Active location tracking by a white arrow in a blue dot.
Is this always true?
Probably not when the NSA accesses your camera through some hardware backdoor.
Perhaps file a report with Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=....
