Ask HN: What software do you use even though it is terrible?
Metabase might be the most confusingly designed piece of software I have ever encountered, but it is hard to beat free...

Outlook and the MS online stack in general. It's all soooo bad compared to GApps. My school uses it, unfortunately :(
And in general, anything university-related seems like a shitshow. The worst UX, terribly slow, useless errors, dumb password policies... it's one of those sectors that people might say is "ripe for disruption", but god, who wants to deal with thousands of colleges in different districts, states, and countries, each with their own specific registration pathways, etc. That'd be one heck of a crazy business rules engine.
Also, the janky shittiness that is Discord. It's like a super-heavyweight IRC with the worst distractions ever. It takes ages to load (even on a M2 Max), needs to take a minute or two to update itself every time I open it (even though it's just an Electron wrapper?), has the worst UX, etc. There are some alternative clients but they don't support important features (like voice chat) yet. It makes Slack seem fast and easy. Man, I miss the old simple IM clients like Trillian and Google's first chat.

Telegram Desktop. It keeps crashing!
Also Python Language Server for VSCode / VSCodium sometimes freezer. VSCode is just buggy and slow.
I use an android launcher called Indistractible
it's crap and I hate it, but that's because it takes me ages to find the app I need unless I pin it to the main screen
music, calls, and I'm chats go there, but I don't get distracted by any other junk, unless I actually need a tool/app

Calibre is a bit of a UI mess but it does what it needs to do and well once you figure out the UI.

Microsoft Teams. Because I have no choice. THE biggest and worst dumpster fire ever, of all time.
Graphical web browsers, mobile phone operating systems and "apps".
Teams and VMware horizon to RDP
Team is pretty bad but in a former life I had to use Oracle ERP… don’t do that.
Document Management Systems are also very annoying.
