This is definitely a major benefit of old school onprem (self-hosted) software.
If the software company goes bust, because your self-hosting the software ... it gives you extra time to find an alternative solution.
With SaaS, you're toast.

An interesting, but at the same time strange situation. This company was very popular and profitable. But suddenly it declares that this profit is not enough for further development and rise. Do you think this is the real reason?
Very hard to break into the enterprise space when Google and Microsoft have site-wide, multi-product licenses.
