Sequentially incrementing serial numbers used as a login credential... That's a junior dev mistake, and a very very easy mistake to catch. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
I'm not sure that I followed their point on pi cm not being used in industry. I'm sure there are tons of cases of those being used in industry.
Having said that, this same principle applies to a lot of smart devices, especially things like thermostats and smart water heaters.

It is true, they are used widely, the problem is that if one can get access to the embedded board, it can explore one of the vulnerabilities and get sensitive data
