I wonder how much of the continuing success of the "building large batteries" part of Tesla is due to Musk being distracted by other stuff so Tesla can just execute on doing this thing well instead of having to cater to Musk's whims.
He tried to shut down the battery storage project when he first found out about it after the initial prototype was built.

For comparison, Ford sold 2.0M vehicles in 2023. Given Tesla is about 100 years younger, they have impressive numbers. Keeping a company alive for >100 years is also impressive.
Small correction Ford sold 4.4M vehicles worldwide in 2023. The 2M number is just for the United States. But Toyota absolutely crushes the competition with 11.2M sold last year.
Ah, thanks. So Tesla is at half Ford. Not as impressive, then. :)
The elephant in the room that was neatly dropped is true FSD. Outright dismissing it in a long-term outlook is foolish. Tesla is far ahead of everyone in this space.
How is Tesla far ahead of Waymo?
Waymo is geo-fenced. Tesla's approach is designed for a global scale.
I keep hearing this but at the same time other manufacturers rolled out level 3 and level 4 autonomy officially, while Tesla is officially stuck at level 2 (that's from Tesla, not from me).
I don't buy it until they (Tesla) officially roll out a level 4 system.
I advise the skeptical to check out YouTube videos on Tesla FSD. Even when avoiding the ones with "TESLA" in the usernames or Musk in the thumbnails, the ones by regular people with a handful of views depicting it in action are very impressive, with none of the restrictions on where it can be used that the Mercedes system has. I think Tesla FSD might be what my aged parents will need (and be able to use) in the coming years.
This article starts with telling you what to believe about FSD, it's trying super hard to shape your opinion, you can tell the author has something against Tesla and can't wait to list every reason they want you to believe, but it's all bs.
You forgot to mention which part of TFA you found to be untrue or unfair. Because the author has links and everything to back it up, and all I read from your comment is “is not!”.
> Elon Musk’s EV empire is crumbling.
Wait, what? Last I heard, Tesla was doing not too shabby last year... https://www.motor1.com/news/706258/tesla-model-y-worlds-top-...
