I feel the same way, it just doesn't seem that OpenAI can compete in the long term because compute costs are so high, plus Google, Apple, and Microsoft (and to some extent Meta) own the platforms and can integrate AI easily into them.

The compute problem and the brain drain are just a huge hurdle to overcome.
