Ladybird has definitely picked a hard path for itself, 3 of the richest software companies on he planet (Google, Apple, Microsoft) all chose to start with an existing codebase to create a browser that they control.
"We currently have 6 paid full-time engineers working on Ladybird" - and onboarding another one. That's quite the achievement in such a short amount of time.

I haven’t even heard the podcast, but it’s got to be: browsers made by an advertising company don’t have your best interests at hard, as evidenced by Chrome disabling unlock Origin and reneging on a commitment to disable third-party cookies. It’s not just Google, Mozilla, Microsoft and Apple are also advertising companies.
